Frequently Asked Topics

This page lists commonly asked questions and topic by customers.  These topics are basically logic components used within a system.

Some of these videos are from older workshops.
They show the old user interface, but all the concepts are the same. If you get stuck, you're always welcome to submit your own question for the weekly workshop.

Troubleshooting Signals or the System's Output

It is inevitable that after building a system the signals or BloodHound's output, does not look correct.  That can occur because a solver or function node is not setup correctly.  This video will walk you through the steps, and teach you the process of troubleshooting a system.

Linking Multiple Trade Conditions/Rules Together

It's common for trading systems to have multiple conditions/rules that need to occur in a certain order, but the number of bars between them always changes.  This shows various ways to link them together.

Requiring Trade Conditions/Rules in a Specific Sequence

This demonstrates how to set up solvers (identify conditions) that must occur in a specific sequence.  e.g.  Solver “A” must identify its condition first.  Solver “B” must identify its condition second.  Solver “C” must identify its condition third.  And so on.

Allowing a Specific Number of Signals per Trend Direction

This demonstrates how to use the Signal Counter function node, with the If-Then node, to count the maximum number of signals you would like to occur during each trend.

Isolating the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Trend Signal

Some systems generate multiple signals in the same direction per a trend movement.  If you find the first signal is often to early and gets stopped out, because the market makes a big pullback just before the big trend move occurs in the direction of the signal, this topic demonstrates how to allow the signal you want to show on the chart.

Blocking Signals When Price is X ticks Away From a MA

This example blocks signals when the Close price is more than 10 ticks away from an EMA 6. Also shown, is how to block signals using the High and Low prices, instead of the Close.

Identifying Market Consolidation

This discusses various ways to detect when the market is consolidating, and thus block signals during that time.

Specifying a Min & Max Number of Required Pullback Bars

This logic works on Renko charts.  It demonstrates how to require a minimum number of pullback bars, and/or a maximum number of pullback bars before a continuation signal can occur.

Detecting Double Tops or Bottoms

This demonstrates how to use the Swing Highs & Lows indicator to detect double tops and double bottoms.

Detect When an Indicator Crosses the Zero Line by at Least 0.3 or -0.3 or More.

This demonstrates how to detect when an indicator, such as Momentum, CCI, or MACD, crosses the zero line by a significant amount to avoid fake-out crossovers.
